Frequently Asked Questions

Do you courier Edible Images?

Yes! We courier over 10,000 edible icing images every year, all over New Zealand.

What are Edible Images made of?

Edible Image Paper Ingredients: Starches (E1422, E1412), maltodextrin, glycerine, sugar, water, stabilisers (E414, E460i), dextrose, emulsifiers (E435, E471), food colour (E171), citric acid, flavours (vanillin), preservatives (E202, E330). Allergens: Contains corn, product is gluten and nut free

Wafer Paper Ingredients: Potato Starch, Olive Oil, Maltodextrine, Sucrose. Allergens: Vegan, Kosher and Gluten Free.

Ink Ingredients: Water, humectant (E422), acidity regulator (E330), preservative (E202), food colours (E151, E133, E122, E104, E110).

How do I store my Edible Image?

Edible images are best stored flat, in a cool, dry place and out of sunlight. Keep your image in the airtight zip-lock bag to ensure it does not dry out.

Do not store in fridge or freezer as condensation may form and cause the edible ink to run.

How long to they last? Can I order ahead of time?

Yes, definitely. Edible Images actually have up to 18 months shelf-life, but we add a 6-month best-before date for optimal image vibrancy.

What's the difference between Edible Icing Sheets & Wafer Paper?

Both icing sheets and wafer paper can be used for edible image printing, but they’re quite different in look, feel, and finish.

Made from sugar-based icing pressed onto a removable plastic backing, edible icing sheets give bright, photo-quality prints that blend smoothly into cakes.

Wafer paper is made from potato starch and is thinner, more translucent, and best for simple prints or cut-out decorations like butterflies and flowers.

Choose icing sheets when you want a polished, photo-like finish on your cake, and wafer paper when you want light, delicate decorations or simple printed accents.

How do I send my Custom Image?

To send us your image(s) and text instructions, simply reply to the order confirmation email you'll receive after placing your order.

Images can't be uploaded via the website. If necessary, we will email you with a proof for your approval prior to printing. Please note: We don't send a proof when no changes to the images are required.

Can you show me the finished design before I place an order?

No, orders must be placed and paid for before any work is started on your image. We'll work with you to ensure you are happy with the design before we print it.
